The Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Sacred Heart was the more difficult of the three to model. That seems to be most appropriate.
The wound was produced by subtracting the geometry and volume of the sabre in the Immaculate Heart model from this heart. As this was being modeled, the words of St. Simeon were in mind: “…and you yourself a sword will pierce.” LK 1:35
Engineering or Art…or both
Part of the design process is to determine which is the right tool for the job. In the case of the backplates for the Rosary Hangers, strict geometry made the determination easy.
So, engineering software it is….
The Hearts as centerpieces to prayer plaques
Statues in the old church, Our Lady of the Greenwood Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, Greenwood, Indiana
The original prayer plaque provided Latin and English translations of the Hail Mary. It was put into our daily mass chapel as a place-holder and was then exchanged for the English/Spanish version shown above.
The day of the exchange, a wedding took place in the chapel and the groom was a Spanish speaker but unfamiliar with the Hail Mary – in English OR Spanish. So during the veneration of the Blessed Mother, guess what was right there in front of the couple…
The timeliness of the plaque exchange reminded me of the Wedding Feast at Cana. “Do whatever He tells you.” LK 2:5
This prayer to St. Joseph was given to us by Pope Francis in 2019.
Its English and Spanish translations are provided in our daily mass chapel to encourage all husbands and fathers in our parish as they live out their vocation.
